October 7, 2023 – the Philippine Independence Day Council, Inc (PIDCI) held its annual election at Pearl Studios in NYC. Arman David, Margarita Wisotsky, and Rely Manacay were the three presidential candidates for 2024 with Arman David emerging as the winner with the majority of the votes. His campaign theme, Keep Progress Moving Forward, was focused on enhancing the organization’s existing programs and events for the annual Philippine Independence Day celebration in NYC.
In addition to the presidential election, seven director positions were also filled for the 2024-2025 term. The newly elected directors are Paul Versoza, Rico Viray, Czarmel Lopez, Aida Tagle, Joyce Andes, Maria Villasin Nucum and Teodora Koltsidis. They join the current Directors serving the 2023 to 2024 term namely Jovel Golingan, Arnel Piamonte, Mariano Aquino, Jr., Betty Corrales, and Lea Frain.
President Arman has also appointed Sol Kapunan as a Director, Nora Galleros as Executive Director, Antero Martinez as Chief of Staff , Annie Ortiz as Auditor, Atty. Manny Quintal as Legal Counsel and Consul General Senen Mangalile as Honorary Adviser.
The newly elected Board of Directors and current officers bring a wealth of experience and expertise to PIDCI, and they are committed to contributing their skills and knowledge to achieve the organization’s objectives. The board of directors play a critical role in overseeing the planning and execution of various events and programs throughout the year, including the annual Philippine Independence Day Parade and Festival. With the new leadership in place, PIDCI is poised to continue its tradition of promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines and fostering unity and pride within the Filipino-American community. The organization is also looking forward to expanding its reach and engaging with more members of the community to increase awareness and participation in its activities. With a dynamic team at the helm, PIDCI is ready to embark on a new chapter of growth and success.
