Look for Lechon Paradise (Patok by Rach and Lechon Bae) or Sisig ny Bayan (Krazy Chef’s) on 26th St. between Madison & Park Ave. Got a sweet tooth? As we begin this year's festivities, we are excited to announce that our theme for the 2024 parade is "Preserving Our Filipino Culture and Heritage to Unite Generations". This theme is a tribute to the diversity of cultures and traditions that make up our great nation, and the importance of coming together in harmony and respect for one another. We invite everyone to participate in this year's parade and show their support for our community. Your involvement helps to make this event a great success and is greatly appreciated. We hope that you will continue to join us in celebrating the rich history, culture, and diversity of our country. It is because of your continued support and participation that we are able to make this parade possible. Arman David is a highly skilled registered nurse who has been serving patients in the post anesthesia care unit (PACU) at New Jersey’s Christ Hospital for over 25 years. Throughout his career, he has worked in several therapeutic areas, gaining vast experience in nursing care.
Arman’s commitment to serving his community is undeniable. Since 2013, he has been actively involved with the Philippine Independence Day Council, Inc. (PIDCI), where he has held multiple roles. Today, he serves as the organization’s President. Arman has also contributed his time and expertise to other non-profit organizations, including Kapampangan Foundation, JCI New Jersey, JCI North Jersey, TUMFI, PACCAL, and the United Nations Foundation – United to Beat Malaria.
Throughout his tenure with PIDCI, Arman has chaired several committees, including the Cultural Festival, Diwa at Ginoo ng Kalayaan Ball, and the Journal Committee. In 2021 and 2022, he served as the Secretary, where he initiated significant improvements to all of the organizations forms and applications. As the Vice President in 2023, Arman played a key role in establishing a standard format for budget preparation and reporting to promote transparency.
2024 PIDCI Grand Marshal
I am thrilled and incredibly humbled to share that I've been appointed as the 2024 Grand Marshal of the world's largest Philippine Independence Day Parade outside Manila, right here in New York City! I am looking forward to honoring and celebrating the rich heritage of the Philippines with all of you.
Charina Amunategui, an accomplished finance professional, embodies resilience, determination, and success throughout her remarkable journey. With over two decades of experience in asset management operations across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Bermuda, she currently holds the position of Executive Director of Fund Finance Business Execution at MUFG Investor Services, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group—one of the world’s largest banks.
Born and raised in Tondo, Manila, a neighborhood known for its economic challenges, Charina is a testament to the belief in dreaming big despite humble beginnings. Her journey commenced at the age of 14 when she, along with her parents and four siblings, immigrated to Canada from the Philippines. Since then, she has navigated the complexities of the finance world, working in various countries and establishing herself as a leader in the field.
Currently pursuing her MBA at Yale University with a specialization in Asset Management, Charina is poised to graduate in May 2024 with high honors and courses with distinction, showcasing her ability to balance a demanding career with academic excellence. Her global perspective was further enriched through her participation in the Global Network for Advanced Management program at Oxford University.
Beyond her professional achievements, Charina actively contributes to her industry and the global community. As the Chair of the 100 Women in Finance New York MidCareer Bridge, she spearheads initiatives to empower women in their career progression, providing professional development, leadership coaching, and peer engagement programs. Additionally, she serves as Treasurer on the boards of Inspiring Girls USA and New York Classical Theatre, leveraging her financial and governance expertise to make a meaningful impact.
Charina has been featured in prestigious publications such as Forbes, Global Investor Group, and Thrive Global. A sought-atier public speaker, she delivers impactful speeches on personal branding, self-advocacy, and confidence building.
In recognition of her outstanding contributions, the Foundation for Filipina Women’s Network (FWN) bestowed upon Charina the prestigious “2023 Most Influential Filipina Woman in the World” award—an acknowledgment of her leadership and influence in advancing women of Philippine heritage. The ceremony, held at the Lobkowicz Palace in Prague, Czech Republic, on November 1, 2023, marks a significant milestone in Charina Amunategui’s journey as she continues to inspire and pave the way for future generations of women leaders.

October 7, 2023 – the Philippine Independence Day Council, Inc (PIDCI) held its annual election at Pearl Studios in NYC. Arman David, Margarita Wisotsky, and Rely Manacay were the three presidential candidates for 2024 with Arman David emerging as the winner with the majority of the votes. His campaign theme, Keep Progress Moving Forward, was focused on enhancing the organization’s existing programs and events for the annual Philippine Independence Day celebration in NYC.
