DESCRIPTION:Mrs. Kalayaan is a popularity contest for married or formerly married Filipino/Filipino-American women who vie for the honor of becoming PIDCI’s Ambassador of Goodwill for one year and also get the opportunity to get to ride on a festive parade float during the Philippine Independence Day Parade on Madison Avenue (the largest parade of its kind outside the Philippines) on the first Sunday in June. AS PIDCI Ambassadors of Goodwill\, our Mrs. Kalayaan titleholders get to promote the PIDCI in various community events and gatherings and participate actively in PIDCI events and endeavours. It is now on its tenth year.

DESCRIPTION:The Independence Day Parade Grand Marshal is one of the highest honors bestowed by PIDCI annually to an individual (or a couple). The search recognizes an exceptionally outstanding person (or a couple) whose contributions have positively impacted the local community and the greater community as well. This special honor is in recognition of excellent leadership qualities\, outstanding personal achievements\, contributions and service in a specific field of endeavor\, as well as in the field of public service not only in the Filipino-American community\, but also in mainstream America. Besides being the symbolic standard bearer of the independence day celebration and promoting the parade\, street fair\, cultural festival on the first Sunday of June\, the grand marshal is also expected to take part in various pre-celebratory events that will lead up to the Philippine Independence Day celebrations namely: Grand Marshal Gala\, Mrs. Kalayaan Pageant\, Diwa ng Kalayaan Pageant and culminating with the Independence Ball and the Maria Clara Coronation Gala
